CBS Sunday Morning recently profiled a $170 million NIH research project, called the Nutrition for Precision Health study, aimed at better understanding why "one size fits all" healthy eating recommendations don’t work.
Sifter is the Food as Medicine Platform.

It may take years for researchers to figure out why people respond differently to different foods, but right now, the technology already exists to tailor nutrition guidance to the individual — easily and cost-effectively. It's called Sifter.

Personalization is what makes Sifter's technology a game-changer. Our evidence-based dietary algorithms identify grocery food eligibility for hundreds of chronic health conditions, including diabetes, kidney disease, IBS, heart health, and food allergies. Sifter technology can also factor in a person's cultural identity, lifestyle preferences, and even ingredient likes and dislikes. This hyper-personalization makes it more likely that members and patients will follow nutrition guidance.

Sifter technology allows health payers and providers to offer:

Smart food benefit cards, tailored to support specific health conditions from diabetes to obesity to heart disease.

Online storefronts that make it easy to find and buy medically tailored groceries. Members and patients can further personalize their search based on food allergies and intolerances, faith-based diets, and cultural preferences.

Scan By Diet, our in-store shopping tool that can be integrated into existing mobile apps, giving shoppers personalized nutrition guidance when they need it most — at the grocery store. Shoppers use their phone to scan grocery products and instantly learn whether the food fits their health and dietary needs.

Sifter technology can support precision nutrition strategies that improve health outcomes, lower healthcare costs, and make a real difference in the lives of your patients and members.
